Silicon Valley-
Uber confirmed Wednesday that it is closing its customer support office in Los Angeles in a move that will result in the loss of 85 jobs at the ride-hailing giant.
According to a WARN notice filed with the California Employment Development Department, the job cuts are to be completed by March 14. Uber said a portion of the jobs will be transferred outside the United States, reportedly to a center in Manila in the Philippines.
“In order to focus our resources in our largest customer support centers, we are closing the Uber support office in downtown Los Angeles,” said an Uber spokesperson, in a statement given to this news organization.
