Long Beach may consider enforcing its mask mandate on residents.
The City Council voted 6-1 at its Tuesday, Dec. 8, meeting, with Councilmember Stacy Mungo dissenting and Councilmembers Dee Andrews and Al Austin absent, to request the city manager look into the possibility of enforcing mask usage in public spaces.
Councilmember Jeannine Pearce brought the item forward because of the current surge in coronavirus cases and, she said, because the Long Beach Board of Health and Human Services recommended the enforcement of mask usage to the City Council earlier this fall.
