Hundreds of salons and barbershops across the state are vowing to reopen indoors on Aug. 17.
Currently, they are only allowed to operate outside if they are on the state’s COVID-19 monitoring list. But some say that’s not a realistic solution.
“(Governor Newsom) only granted dry hair cuts outdoors. The majority of our clientele, I would say about 95%, are color clients,” said Salon W owner Wendy Diaz. “So, if we can’t do color, we can’t work.”
