A $1.22 billion spending plan approved by the Board of Supervisors on Tuesday, July 21, will allocate $656 million for public health, including testing and contact tracing amid the pandemic.
The board’s action, utilizing federal CARES Act dollars, comes as the virus that causes COVID-19 continues to surge across the region — with hospitalization levels not seen since the beginning of the pandemic, which has officially taken more than 4,000 lives in across the county.
