By this time next month, Black Lives Matter posters will be displayed prominently in every police station in San Francisco.
The city’s police commission unanimously passed a resolution expressing the “urgent need to reaffirm the value of Black lives” and requiring all stations in the district to “prominently display … in a location that is visible by the general public visiting the station” a 24×32 sign with the words “Black Lives Matter” — a symbolic but important first step, the commissioners said.
Commissioner DionJay Brookter, the leading force behind the resolution, read it aloud to the board before the vote Wednesday, noting other local commissions had taken similar measures.
