An inmate in the Men’s Central Jail in Santa Ana tested positive Tuesday, March 24, for the novel coronavirus, becoming the first known Orange County inmate to be stricken with the virus.
The inmate is in his 40s, Orange County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Carrie Braun said. He recently showed symptoms of the flu and was placed in isolation.
Test results on Tuesday showed he has the coronavirus. His name was not immediately released.
