Enterprise Record-
The Ranch Fire burning in the Mendocino National Forest north of Clear Lake had burned 402,468 acres as of Monday, but firefighters were making progress on containment and evacuation orders were lifted Monday morning in the Elk Creek area.
Cal Fire said the fire was still just 67 percent contained, but all of its growth for the last couple of days has been due to intentionally lit backfires to remove vegetation inside fire lines, widening the barrier against the wildfire.
