President Donald Trump is set to bump up his request for border-wall funding by $500 million, a new report says.

The president will request at least $2.2 billion to build the wall in the budget for the next fiscal year, which begins in September, according to Politico.

The border wall’s ultimate cost has been estimated at $21.6 billion, not including maintenance, and it will take more than three years to complete, according to the Department of Homeland Security. The president originally promised that Mexico would pay for the wall, but such hopes have flagged since his 2016 campaign.
